ToggleWho won the 2024 HGTV Dream Home?
First off, it has not been announced just yet – it gets announced publicly on May 15, 2024, however if you are one of the lucky winners you will get notified before then.. read to find out all the answers to your questions.
If you remember back in December we posted the sweepstakes that HGTV was hosting a home giveaway for the year of 2024. We entered in every single day since then and recently it ended on February 15, 2024 and we have been wondering when the winner will be selected. I’m sure we aren’t the only ones so we decided to do a post after finding out all the answers to our questions.
A questions we have been wondering is who one this house? When will it be announced?
When will we find out?
Well as I stated in accordance to the rules of the sweepstakes the public will be notified on who won on May 15, 2024.
Winners List: Beginning on or about May 15, 2024 you may obtain the name of the Grand Prize Winner by going to the Websites.
See section 11 on rules for sweepstakes at HGTV website (here)
If you won, how will you find out?
You will be notified on or about February 29, 2024! One prospective Grand Prize Winner will be randomly selected from all the eligible entries received during the Promotion Period (From December 22, 2023 to February 15, 2024 ). So any entries between those dates, even if it was once you have a chance.
Following the selection, the excitement escalates as the Grand Prize Winner could be surprised by an “ambush style” visit at their home or another location by the Sponsor’s representatives, anytime between February 30, 2024, and April 30, 2024 (Yes, we know there is no February 30th..but thats what it says in the rules.) This unique approach to notifying the winner adds a thrilling twist, with the potential of being filmed or otherwise recorded during the visit, capturing the winner’s genuine reaction and joy.
One (1) prospective Grand Prize Winner (the “Grand Prize Winner”) will be selected in a random drawing from among all eligible Entries received during the Promotion Period on approximately February 29, 2024. Prospective Grand Prize Winner will be contacted either by (i) phone, (ii) email, (iii) in writing, or (iv) via an “ambush style” visit by Sponsor’s representatives at the Grand Prize Winner’s home or other location between February 30, 2024 – April 30, 2024. The prospective Grand Prize Winner may be filmed or otherwise recorded during such visit by Sponsor. Sponsor’s decisions with respect to the Grand Prize Winner, these Official Rules, and all other matters pertaining to the Promotion shall be final and binding.

Important legal Information (Very Important)
Rules on claiming prize!
The selected Grand Prize Winner must quickly sign and return certain documents within five days after being notified. If they can’t be reached within five days, don’t return the paperwork on time, fail a background check, or don’t meet all requirements, they’ll lose the prize. Then, another winner will be chosen. The chance of winning varies based on how many entries are submitted.
What you actually get
The Grand Prize Winner gets a fully furnished home in St. Augustine, Florida (valued at $2,069,595), a $70,000 credit for a Mercedes-Benz vehicle, and a $100,000 check, totaling an approximate value of $2,239,595. The actual value of the home may vary due to market changes.
The home comes as is, with no guarantees except any from the contractor or manufacturer. The winner must pay all taxes, fees, insurance, and costs related to the home’s upkeep from when they accept the prize. Construction delays or title issues are not the responsibility of the Sponsor.
Rules on the Mercedes-Benz vehicle
The Grand Prize Winner gets a $70,000 credit towards a Mercedes-Benz vehicle, but it can’t be exchanged for cash. If the chosen vehicle costs less than $70,000, the unused portion of the credit is lost. This credit can only be used for purchasing a single vehicle from an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership and cannot be transferred. The winner must have valid insurance and a U.S. driver’s license to get the vehicle. The credit does not cover taxes, title, and license fees, which are the winner’s responsibility. However, it can be used for shipping the vehicle, any additional features, or upgrades. If the vehicle’s cost exceeds the credit, the winner pays the difference. The vehicle credit must be used by December 31, 2024.
What If you don’t want the house?
Instead of taking the HGTV® Dream Home 2024 and its contents, the Grand Prize Winner can choose to receive $650,000 in cash (“Cash Option”). If the winner can’t take the home due to unforeseen events, construction issues, or any reason the Sponsor deems valid, they’ll receive the Cash Option. The total approximate retail value (ARV) of the Grand Prize is $820,000 if the Cash Option is selected instead of the home.
Tax responsibilities for the winner!
The Grand Prize Winner must cover all costs, taxes, fees, and expenses related to the Grand Prize that are not explicitly mentioned earlier. This includes all federal, state, and local taxes on the prize, for which the winner will receive a 1099 tax form reflecting the prize’s actual value. The Sponsor has the final say on all details of the Grand Prize. There may be some restrictions, and the Grand Prize cannot be transferred, substituted, or converted into cash, except as decided by the Sponsor. The Sponsor also holds the right to replace the Grand Prize or any part of it with an alternative of equal or greater value if necessary.
